Unlike other Scandinavian countries, Sweden maintained its neutrality throughout the Second World War. She was therefore able to offer sanctuary for the fighting men of all nations. This book explores the relationship between the USAAF and Sweden during the Second World War. Over 1,400 American airmen landed in Sweden or in its coastal waters during the conflict. For the majority the country offered the sole refuge when their stricken aircraft were unable to make the return flight to their British bases.
