Lancaster - Raincheval, France

 

The Somme aircraft recovery group led by Pierre Ben recovered substantial remains of Lancaster EE177.
The Lancaster was lost on the night of 27-28 August 1943 on a raid to Nuremburg and all seven crew from the 156 Squadron 'Pathfinder' were killed:

Sgt C F Webb
P/O A E Emans
Sgt R C Mason
Sgt H E Warren
Sgt D J Atkinson
Sgt H K Hollidge

All four Packard Merlin engines were recovered, with some of the propeller blades, together with much other airframe wreckage.
